Fingernail Drug Testing: The Most Accurate Long-Term Detection Method
The detection window for drug use using a fingernail specimen is up to 6 months, and for toenails, up to 12 months.
Obtaining a fingernail drug test is typically used to determine long-term patterns of use. Not necessarily single-use. Keep in mind that prescription drugs and some over-the-counter medications can or may cause positive test results. We suggest you get legal advice on what to do if you're on prescription drugs and come back positive on your drug test. This test is basically for the determination of abstinence from drugs. All we do is send your specimen to the lab, where they test for whatever test panels are used.
How it works:
Fingernails must be clean of any polish, artificial nails, overlays, and gel.
Fingernails are clipped and sent to the lab along with the proper Chain of Custody forms.
Our lab partner only conducts intitial and confirmation.
Toenails can be used to test for drugs. However, the donor can not be diabetic or have peripheral artery disease.
Turnaround Time: Most of the time, the standard turnaround time for reporting negative screening test results is the next business day, with an additional 1-2 business days for specimens that require confirmatory testing. Turnaround time starts when the lab receives the valid specimen along with the chain of custody forms. from receipt of the valid specimen. However, some tests may require additional time to process and will fall outside the standard turnaround time window.
